How Much is a Burn Ban Fine in Texas?
August 21, 2024 – In Texas, violating a burn ban is usually a Class C misdemeanor that can result in a fine of up to $500. For example, in Bell County, Section 352.081 of the Local Government Code states that a person who knowingly or intentionally violates a burn ban order commits a Class C misdemeanor and can be fined up to $500. In Harris County, anyone who violates the burn ban could face a Class C misdemeanor and a fine of up to $500.
If the violation leads to fire damage, the charge could be upgraded to arson.
