A Message of Inspiration From the Author of Living Loved, September 8, 2024
Hey friends! The other day my kids and I went to the lake to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I am not exactly sure why, but I had a bit of anxiety. I was overall just feeling very overwhelmed. I was doing my very best to be in the moment, enjoying playing in the water with my daughter and granddaughter, grilling and all the good stuff in life. But it was a struggle. As I was sitting there at the picnic table watching my girl play in the lake I noticed something. I noticed that the lake was getting very tumultuous on the other side of the wall that surrounded the swim area. I noticed too, that the swim area water was calm as could be. Everyone was swimming and having a great time in the calm waters while just on the other wide of the wall, waves crashed against the wall. It was in that moment friends that peace came over me and I recalled the scripture in Psalm 27 where it says, “For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.” I always tell people that I am in Gods pocket; that He hides me there so no storm can overtake me. And friends, He does. He is like that wall at the lake; surrounding us and protecting us from the storms that come to threaten us. And like the water on the other side of the wall, we can be at peace, calm. So many times we do not even see the storms raging because God has us hidden in His secret place. So friends, have you ever just been so anxious, feeling so overwhelmed by things in life? Just needing to find and rest in some peace. Cry out to Him. Psalm 27 also says, “Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, ” LORD, I am coming.” Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.”
He says, Come and Talk with me. No matter who is for you or who is against you, the Lord will hold you close! He never turns his back on you. And in His pocket, there is rest. There is peace. There is comfort. There is what you are seeking. May your heart respond to His call with “Lord I am coming!” May his love and peace settle over you as you rest in His love. May you settle in behind that wall, His sanctuary, and find rest. You are so loved friends, live loved!
