Church in Sulphur Springs at 1:00 p.m. Diana Valdez passed away and went to be with our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ on September 12, 2024, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She lived a fulfilling life,
exemplifying love for her family, excellence in work and trust in her Savior Jesus Christ.
Diana was born on September 5, 1950, to Annie Flores in San Patricio County, Rockport, Texas. She was
then adopted and raised by her aunt Jane and Uncle Ambrosio Gonzales. She married Joe Gilbert Valdez,
Sr. on December 27, 1968. She grew up in Rockport, Texas and experienced the richness of a very large
and loving Flores family. She was excellent in everything she put her mind to do. She did especially well
in academics, cheerleading, and choir. After getting married she lived in Spain and in Colorado, raised
her family and supported her husband as he was led into the ministry field. In 1980 she and her family
moved to Dallas, Texas and it was at this time that she started working as a data entry clerk for Blue
Cross Blue Shield. She did not have a college degree but because of God’s provision and hard work she
advanced to being Vice President of many well-known large insurance companies. In her later years she
founded Partners Plus Consulting with her close friend, Nan Coleman and she continued to work
faithfully and provided for her family. In addition to work she enjoyed spending time with her
immediate family, extended family and loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She was known to be
friendly and generous, and she never knew a stranger. She also loved sports and gardening. She would
love to sing praises and hymns and was always helping with providing music for funerals.
She is survived by her husband, Joe G. Valdez, Sr. and children, Joe G. Valdez, Jr., Gabriel T. Valdez, and
Daniel R. Valdez, daughters-in-law, Monica Valdez and Melissa Valdez, grandchildren, Maegan Valdez,
Christian Valdez, Gabriel Valdez, Angelina Valdez, Joseph Valdez, Obadiah Valdez, Shiloh Valdez, and
great-grandson baby boy Valdez expected to arrive soon. She also is survived by her sisters, Angie
Ancira, Laura McCann, Carolyn Arismendez, and brother, Thomas McCann.
Diana was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Flores and adopted parents, Jane and Ambrosio
Gonzales, her grandparents, Consuelo and Angel Flores, a brother, Edward McCann, one sister, Sarah
Chesser and a granddaughter, Isabella Valdez.
