Funeral service for John “Buddy” Luttrell, age 82, of Gunter, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Gunter, Texas with Roy Layman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship Church. Interment will be held at DFW National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024
with Scott Meyerdirk, Cade Meyerdirk, Clayton McKinney, Kennedy Snow, Chandler Snow, and Lynn Luttrell serving as Pallbearers. Mr. Luttrell passed away at Medical City Hospital Frisco on Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by his family.
John Edward Luttrell (Buddy) was born on December 25, 1941 in Bonham, Texasto John E. and Joyce (Luna) Luttrell. He married his high school sweetheart, Edwina “Eddie” Merritt at the First Baptist Church in Bonham, Texas on April 6, 1963.
Buddy proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965. He then worked at Texas Instruments for over 30 years before his retirement. Buddy dearly loved his family, he enjoyed flying, fishing, boating, woodworking, traveling, and serving as a Texas Mason in the Shriners and Scottish Rite Hospitals for Children. He was also a past Master of the Plano Masonic Lodge #768.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eddie; children, Shari (Scott) Meyerdirk, John (Cindy) Luttrell, Michele (Chandler) Snow; grandchildren, Britney (Clayton) McKinney, Cade (Lauren) Meyerdirk, Caine Mongeau (Kelly Newman), Kinley Luttrell, John E. Luttrell, III, Kennedy Snow, Gracey (Kage) Nichols; great-
grandchildren, Tinsley Grace Ehret, Sadie Jean McKinney; and siblings, Aletha Novinger, Lynn (Donna) Luttrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Joyce Luttrell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
