Douglas Hargrove Wright, age 75, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
He was born to John D. Wright, Sr. and Virginia Hargrove Wright on September 1, 1949, in Paris, Texas, and was one of 13 children.
Doug married Jo Lane Purdon on June 7, 1974. He was a business owner of Doug Wright Tractors and Farm Equipment in Mount Pleasant. He loved to deer hunt and in later years enjoyed taking photographs of deer. Doug also loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jo Lane; his parents, John D. and Virginia Wright; his siblings, Robert Wright, Mayra Wright, Shane Wright, and John David Wright.
Doug is survived by his children; son, Doug Wright II and Melinda; Danielle Laird and husband Rustin; grandchildren, Kai, Leven, and Maggie; siblings, Camelia Stephenson, his twin sister, Sue Currey and husband David, Karen Wright and Johnny Jones, Mona Wright and Buster Allen, Scott Wright, Marta Wright Rhoades, Todd and Sheila Wright, Laura Wright, and JP Kernan; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wright, and Leslie Wright; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Brenda Purdon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel on November 16, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Burial to follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
