BJ’s Wholesale Club Coming to Forney Next Year
February 11, 2025 – BJ’s Wholesale Club, a Massachusetts-based membership-only warehouse retailer, is expanding into Texas with plans to open at least four locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. These will be the company’s first stores in the state.
The planned locations and their estimated timelines are as follows:
- Fort Worth: Located at 5901 Altamesa Blvd., along Chisholm Trail Parkway. Construction is expected to begin in June 2025, with completion anticipated by February 2026.
- Forney: Situated at U.S. Route 80 and Gateway Boulevard within the Villages at Gateway development. The store is projected to be completed by January 2026.
- Waxahachie: Planned for the intersection of Highway 77 and Hedgewood Drive. Construction is slated to start in June 2025, aiming for a January 2026 opening.
- Grand Prairie: Set to be located at the southwest corner of Robinson and Mayfield Road, with an expected completion date in January 2026.
Each store will encompass approximately 107,000 square feet, offering a range of products including groceries, electronics, and home goods. The estimated construction cost for each location is $9.5 million.
BJ’s Wholesale Club operates similarly to Costco and Sam’s Club, providing members with discounted prices on bulk items. The company’s expansion into Texas marks a significant move into a market currently dominated by its competitors.
As construction progresses, residents in these areas can look forward to new shopping options, with BJ’s aiming to establish a strong presence in the North Texas retail landscape.
