Rodney Lane Crist, age 59 of Yantis, Texas, passed away in Tyler, Texas, on March 21, 2025.
Rodney was born on August 10, 1965, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to William and Mrya Shirley Crist.
He joined the United States Army upon completion of High School. He became a Police Office in Sulphur Springs, Texas, after serving in the Army. He had been Fire Chief of Yantis Fire Department. Rodney was a Master Mason and had been the pastor at County Line Baptist Church in Yantis. Rodney counted his grandchildren being in church with him, his greatest joy. He always enjoyed cooking stew for the Hopkins County Stew Cook-off every year.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 17 years, Debbie; daughter, Cassie (David) Giesecke; sons, Daniel (Erica) Wyatt, Shawn (Kim) Wyatt; grandchildren, Raylin Wyatt, Caely Wyatt, Addilyn Wyatt, Holton Giesecke, Ricky Crocker, and Cory Crocker; a great granddaughter, Violet Crocker; his brothers, Wesley ( Debra) Crist, Nathan (Tina) Crist, and Rudy (Tammy) Crist; his mother in law, Shirley Carden; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myra Crist, and a nephew, Gus Henry Crist.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Brewers Missions at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton, Texas.
