Hurrie Lynn Washington passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 8th 2025, at the Rockwall Nursing Care Center. Hurrie who was also known as Lynn was born to Tom Foster Washington Sr and Rosie Lee Vaughn Washington on March 28th 1941.
He grew up in a small community of East Caney, where he attended East Caney Elementary School and finished his education at Douglas High School.
He was a member of the East Caney Baptist Church. After graduating, he relocated to mississippi, where he worked on the railroad. He returned back to East Caney to work alongside his brother Tom Foster Washington Jr and nephews in the fencing business until they retired.
Although a man of few words,who kept to himself, he often enjoyed enjoyed listening to Motown classics, scrapbooking, various things about Sulphur Springs and it’s history, smoking his pipe and teaching folks about family history was clearly his passions.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Tom Washington and Rosie Lee Vaughn Washington, Sisters Claudel Washington, Ruby Jewel Washington Moseley, Jessie Lee Washington Ivery and Luevella Washington Harris, Brothers; Durwood Washington, Gerald Washington and Tom Foster Washinginton Jr
He leaves behind two siblings: His sister Carol Kay Washington Bell. His brother Jimmy Kenneth Washington (Mary) of Garland, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins who cared about him dearly.
