When You Think of Halloween Destinations, Denton Wants To Top Your List

Aprill 10, 2025 – Denton, Texas, is making strides to officially become the “Halloween Capital of Texas.” House Concurrent Resolution 86, filed in February 2025 by Rep. Richard Hayes, proposes designating Denton with this title for a 10-year period ending in 2035.

This initiative builds upon the success of Denton’s inaugural “31 Days of Halloween” in October 2024. Throughout the month, the city transformed into a Halloween haven, featuring daily events such as ghost tours, haunted markets, outdoor movie screenings, and family-friendly activities. In a symbolic gesture, Denton even temporarily renamed itself “Halloween, Texas” for the duration of the festivities.

The city’s efforts drew inspiration from Conway, South Carolina, which experienced increased tourism and economic benefits after implementing a similar month-long Halloween celebration. Denton’s Parks and Recreation Department collaborated with community partners to adapt this model, aiming to boost local businesses and foster community engagement.

As the resolution progresses through the legislative process, Denton’s commitment to embracing Halloween culture positions it as a unique destination for holiday enthusiasts. The city’s blend of creativity, community involvement, and festive spirit underscores its bid to become Texas’ official Halloween hub.
