Funeral service for Douglas Thomas Chappuis, age 70, of Dike will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Nelta Cemetery with Ronny Price, Carter Chappuis, Santana Hernandez, Joe Manico, Kevin Inman, and Dave Birtchet serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Douglas passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1948 in Homestead, Florida, the son of Edward R. Chappuis and Juanita Yarbrough Calhoun. He was a pipe welder and of the Baptist faith. Douglas married his wife Linda on January 24, 1975 in Galveston, Texas, she survives. Other survivors include sons, Kevin Chappuis of Dike, Doug Chappuis III of Galveston, and Johnny Chappuis of Eagleton, daughter, Galinda Chappuis, brother, Wayne Calhoun of Bacliff, grandchildren, Ronny, Ashley, Carter, Naomi, Kevin, and Colton, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Chappuis Jr., and daughter Amy Carter. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, www.diabetes.org/donate.
