This week I have a few bits and pieces of news to share with the community. You know, any good reporter needs to “find” news wherever he or she goes. And, that’s exactly what I did Thursday night. While driving down FM 1567, I noticed a lot of smoke billowing up from the County Road 1152 area of the Center Point community. On further inspection it looked like one of the pastures in the bottoms was on fire. I counted four fire trucks rushing toward the pasture as I snaked down the oil-topped road to make my way home. I wasn’t the only onlooker though. There was quite a bit of traffic down the county road that night. I’m glad no one was hurt and at least the grass will come back much greener this spring.
Congratulations to Mr. Jimmy Harris (retired MGISD teacher) and wife Cynthia. They are grandparents once again. Their youngest daughter, Hilery (2003 MG Graduate), delivered their grandson on Sunday, Jan. 25. Little Harrison Cole Hill weighed 7.9 lbs and was 20 inches long. Hilery and husband, Jonathan, are very proud parents.
