Funeral service for Dorothy Ford Thomas, 83, of Como, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Independent Baptist Church Sand Field Community in Como, TX. Pastor, Derrick Johnson and Elder Gary L. Choice officiating. Burial will follow at Independent Cemetery with Gary Thomas, Jr., Genesis Thomas, Anthony Robertson, Cletis Sims, Ryan Bozeman and Boyette Williams serving as pallbearers. No formal Visitation by family. Mrs. Thomas can be visited at the funeral home from 9.00 a.m. thru 6:00 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Thomas died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. Mrs. Thomas was born on January 18, 1932 in Como, TX, the daughter of Johnny Ford and Eleary Sims Ford. Both parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Thomas retired from working with the Sulphur Springs School District. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Independent Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband Horace D. Thomas; three sons, Horace Thomas, Jr., Donald Thomas, and Gary Thomas; one daughter, Cynthia Parker; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
