Private Pesticide Applicator Classes Offered 4 Times A Year In Hopkins County

A private pesticide applicator is someone who uses or supervises the use of restricted-use or state-limited-use pesticides or regulated herbicides to produce an agricultural commodity on:

1. Personally owned property;
2. Rented property;
3. Property owned by his or her employer;
4. Property under his or her general control; or
5. The property of another person if applied without compensation, other than the trading of personal services between producers of agricultural commodities.

An agricultural commodity is a plant or animal grown for sale, lease, barter, feed or human consumption and animals raised for farm or ranch work.

No license is required to apply general-use pesticides to produce agricultural commodities. The first step in the process is attend a 4-hour training provided at the Hopkins County Extension Office. These trainings are offered four times a year. The dates for 2020 are Feb 12, May 13, Aug. 12 and Nov. 18.
