RadioShack Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on February 5th, 2015. Our local store is slated for a March 31st, 2015 closure. KSST spoke with store management on Monday. No plans or schedule for liquidation of the current merchandise are available. Official information from company headquarters in Ft. Worth, TX has been delayed and intermittent. Though unfortunate, bankruptcy was anticipated as RadioShack has posted 11 consecutive quarterly losses.
Five members of our community will be looking for new employment. The store has been staffed with 2 full time, and 3 part-time employees. Current employees are on edge, waiting for the next blow to fall.
