Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta said the Wildcats executed well and shared the ball well on offense and restored pride on defense as players stepped up in certain areas in Tuesday night’s (January 28) win at Royse City, 69-43. Coach Cipoletta said the Wildcats worked well against the Bulldogs zone with a really good average points per possession over 1.0. He said the Wildcats had more than 15 assists. He said the defense buckled down against a Royse City offense that runs lots of action with screens and features tons of offensive weapons. Coach Cipoletta said the Wildcats practiced long hours to prepare for the Bulldogs, who do so many things on offense. He said the Wildcats rebounded well and blocked out well against Royse City. Coach Cipoletta said senior Day Day Hall put on an offensive clinic scoring 26 points. He said senior Grayson McClure was phenomenal hitting 7 three-pointers for 21 points. He credited Boo Wilkerson with leading the team in hero passes, those extra passes that lead to baskets. At one point in the game, sophomore post Justin Haire made a nice pass that led to a basket by Hall. A short time later, Hall returned the favor with a good pass to Haire who scored. Coach Cipoletta said the team celebrates sharing the ball. He said the sharing creates energy and is fun to watch. The Wildcats, ranked #9 in Class 5A with a 3-1 district mark and 21-7 season record, play next at Lindale Friday night. The Wildcats are tied for first in district with Mount Pleasant.
