Sulphur Springs Police Lt. Pat Leber was dispatched Friday afternoon to the Adult Probation Office, where a wanted person was reportedly located. Upon arrival, Leber learned Cameron Lynn Bain was wanted for violation of probation, according to arrest reports.
Leber took the 26-year-old Pickton man into custody at 1:28 p.m. and transported him to Hopkins jail on the warrant for violating probation, which he was on for possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, according to arrest reports.
The arrest marks at least the second time in less than a year that Bain has been in custody at the county jail.
Bain was also arrested June 5, 2019, for possession of 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, according to jail reports. A deputy reportedly stopped to check out a vehicle parked at Brashear Post Office at 12:30 a.m. June 5, 2019. While shining a light in the vehicle, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Chaney Chaney alleged he could see the driver with a syringe with dark liquid in it near his arm, as if he were about to use it. The driver was identified as Bain.
On inspection, the deputy, in arrest reports from June 2019, noted the substance in the syringe appeared to be black tar heroin. Additional suspected contraband was allegedly found in a glass case Bain also was reported to be holding as well as in the vehicle, deputies alleged in the 2019 arrest reports.
The tar-like substance and dark substance found in the syringe field-tested positive as heroin and four bags with a crystal-like substance in them field-tested positive as methamphetamine, Chaney alleged in the 2019 arrest reports. Bain was reportedly indicted during the August 2019 Grand Jury session on both controlled substance charges, according to court reports. He was released from Hopkins County jail on Sept. 18, 2019, according to jail reports.
Bain remained in Hopkins County jail Saturday, March 7, on the warrant for violation of probation, according to jail reports.
