There is basketball and soccer on this game day. The Wildcats’ basketball team wraps up their season with a senior night game against Marshall tonight in Wildcats Gym. A freshman game starts at 5 p.m. With JV game at 6:15 p.m. and then the varsity at 7: 30 p.m. The Wildcats will be honoring seniors Jaylon Dugan, Ale Rosales and Dillon Carpenter. The Wildcats are 4-9 in district play and 9-21 for the season. We’ll bring up the game tonight live on KSST radio beginning at around 7:30 p.m. We’ll also videotape the game for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
Also tonight, the Wildcats’ soccer team goes on the road in search of a victory as they travel to Hallsville. The JV plays at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity following at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 2-4 in district play but three of the losses were by a single goal.
Meanwhile the Lady Cats’ soccer team is at home tonight hosting Hallsville. There will be a JV contest at 5:30 p.m. and then the varsity at around 7 p.m. The Lady Cats are 3-3 in district play.
The season ended for the Lady Cats’ basketball team Monday night in Lindale as state ranked John Tyler defeated the Lady Cats, 81-35. The Lady Cats were led by Daieyshia Pruitt and Kaylee Jefferson who both scored 12 points. The Lady Cats committed 34 turnovers against a tenacious full court press by John Tyler. The Lady Cats trailed 26-6 after one quarter. I talked about the game with Lady Cats Basketball Coach Jeff Chapman.
Several Wildcats and Lady Cats teams have been impacted by the weather or the threat of weather. The Wildcats’ baseball team’s scrimmage, originally scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at Wylie East has been rescheduled for Thursday.
Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats’ golf teams were scheduled to play in a season opening tournament in Mt. Pleasant but the tournament has also been rescheduled for this Thursday.
