Graveside service for Robert Carter, age 86 of Cumby, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Rosemond cemetery with Rev James Hall officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Carter passed away on August 24, 2021, at his residence.
Robert was born on June 25, 1935, in Lone Oak, Texas, to Jessie Lee and Vergie L (Britt) Carter. He married Glenna Margaret Walls in 1975 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Robert worked as a mechanic, tree trimmer, milk hauler and owned a bait shop.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Carter and wife Lavita, Johnny Carter and wife Kathy, Billy Carter and wif, Janna, Chuck Cawthron and wife Kathy and Buddy Carter and wife Leah; daughters, Cheree Walker and husband Cecil, Mitzi Alderman and husband Randy, Debra Suzanne Whittington and Sheila Aaron and husband Bruce; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Herman Carter.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Vergie Carter; wife, Glenna; sisters, Dorothy Shelton and Ruth Mitchell; and brother Lee Carter.
