Funeral service for LG Hankins, age 82 of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with James Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Mahoney Cemetery with Tony Dehart, Bryan Dorner, Earl Robinson, Jim Hanselka, Joe Bob Self, Travis Patridge and Robert serving as pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Hankins passed away on August 30, 2021, at Christus Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
LG was born on April 22, 1939, in Mahoney, Texas, to Garland and Lena Faye (Smith) Hankins. He married Edith Huff on May 28, 1989, in Birthright, Texas LG was a veteran for the United States Army. He worked as a concrete worker. L.G. was a man of the Methodist Faith.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; sons, Brian and Mike Gibson; daughters, Rachel Gottfried, and Sherry Hankins Sims and husband Harry; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-children and great-great-grandchildren
L.G was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Belinda Hankins Sanford; son, David Hankins; and brother, Wesley Hankins.
