Sulphur Springs ISD Band Students Perform Well At Competitions

Sulphur Springs ISD band students performed well in competitions over the last two weeks, with middle and high school teams earning UIL honors and the the winter guard wrapping with a top 10 finish.

The Sulphur Springs Middle School Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band earned all first division ratings and took home a Sweepstakes Trophy last week, while the Sulphur Springs High School Concert Band earned a first division in sight reading at the UIL Contest this past week.

The Winter Guard placed 6th overall in the very competitive upper division round at the North Texas Colorguard Association Championships.

Various groups of Wildcat instrumentalists will be performing and participating in a number of activities over the next 2 months.

Additional upcoming band and music activities include:

  • Wildcat Jazz Band members will present the 2nd Annual Jazz on the Square at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, on Celebration Plaza. The students plan to perform music from Three Dog Night, the B-52s, the Blues Brothers, Starship and more. All are invited to bring lawn chairs or a blanket downtown on Thursday, for a night filled with music — all for free.
  • A Wildcat Band Banquet is planned April 28, 2022.
  • The SSISD Strings program is scheduled to perform a concert May 2, 2022.
  • A Band Concert is planned May 3, 2022.
  • A Choir Concert is planned May 10, 2022.
