“Bill” William Don Hooten

A funeral service for “Bill” William Don Hooten, age 77, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Stephen Leach officiating. Interment will follow at Old Tarrant Cemetery with Justin Hooten, Carlos Galindo, Matthew Hooten, Jessie Hooten, Dalton Hoover, Zach Shelton, Tyler Bilharz and William Reed serving as pallbearers; and Jerry Mack Chapman, Kenneth Hall and Dane Johnson serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Hooten passed away on August 17, 2022, at Christus Mother Frances – Tyler.

William was born on June 2, 1945, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Jesse and Vera (Frederick) Hooten. He
married Donna Hatley on December 10, 1973, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. William was retired from GTE
and Contel Telephone Company, as well as a retired dairy farmer. After retirement, he also worked for
A&S Air Conditioning. He was a member of the Cross Country Cowboy Church.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Eddie Hooten and Cleveland Hooten and wife, Missy; daughters,
Stephanie Hooten, Tammy Shelton and Mary Galindo and husband Luis; grandchildren, Jessie Hooten,
Christina Hooten, Dana Shelton, Ashley Shaffer, Jason Hooten, Alaina Owens, Justin Hooten, Carlos Galindo, Baylee Daehn and Dalton Hoover; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Beadles and husband, Gene; brother, Freddie Hooten and wife, Brenda.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert Hooten, Travis Hooten, Melvin Hooten
and JD Hooten; daughter, Karen Hooten; granddaughter, Tammy JoAnn Hooten; and grandson, Matthew Pearce.
