Annie Lucille Cary Bible departed this life on October 23, 2023. She was born on February 11, 1924 in Hooleyan, Texas – the 6th of 8 children – to James Miles Cary and Clara Etta McClanahan Cary. Lucille graduated from LaCasa Consolidated School while working on the family farm outside of Hollis, OK. Following graduation, she attended Hill’s Business University in Oklahoma City, OK. Lucille married her school sweetheart, Grant Bible, on December 23, 1943. At his death last year, they both were 98 years old and had been married almost 79 years. They had one son, Tony Bible from Sulphur Springs, TX and one daughter, Rhonda Bible Drachenberg from Humble, TX. They had 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Lucille had several jobs during her working career. She had a U.S. government secretarial job while Grant was in the Navy. Both were stationed on Manchester Island just off the shore of Seattle, Washington. After Grant was discharged from the service, she worked for abstract offices in Canyon, TX, and Pauls Valley, OK, for 5 years each. She also worked 5 years in the County Clerk’s office in Pauls Valley. Grant’s job was transferred to Longview, TX, and Lucille went to work for the State Department of Human Resources in the Medicaid Eligibility Department from which she retired 16 years later. While working there, she was honored to be selected outstanding secretary of the Human Resource Department of the state of Texas.
Lucille was preceded in death by her lifelong friend and beloved husband, Grant Bible; by her parents, Miles and Clara Cary; five brothers, Roy Cary and wife, Louise, Cecil Cary and wife, Velma, Clyde Cary and wife, Ruth, J. L. Cary, Harlon Cary and wife, Wanda; two sisters, Marvelle Wright and husband, Howard, Jewell and husband, R.E. Morse; her daughter-in-law, Linda Waller Bible, and her son-in-law, Timothy Drachenberg.
She is survived by her son, Tony Bible; daughter, Rhonda Drachenberg; one grandson, Steven Drachenberg; three grand-daughters, Lyndsi Brock and husband, David, Cary Owens and husband, Ronald, Natalie Kammerdiener and husband, Todd; three great granddaughters, Krista Owens, Kayla Owens, Andie Joy Drachenberg; two great grandsons, Logan Kammerdiener and Nathan Kammerdiener. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews & friends. During the last almost five years of her life, both she and Grant received care from Sheena Elam, who became a dear friend. Visitation will be at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home at 12:00, followed by a service conducted by Buddy Wiggins at 1:00 on Saturday, October 27, 2023. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery with Ron Owens, Steven Drachenberg, David Brock, Logan Kammerdiener, Nathan Kammerdiener, and Mike Harris serving as Pallbearers.
