Elmer Dean Sinclair, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Randy Sinclair officiating. Pallbearers will be Rance Cupp, Bowdrie Cupp, Mark Lester, Justin Burkett, Kylan McElroy, and Colston Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brancen Cupp, Hagen Cupp, Garrett Cupp, Hunter Burkett, Wyatt Lester, and Andrew McNutt. Interment will be at Bridges Chapel in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Dean was born on June 25, 1937, in Franklin County, Texas to Leslie Goble and Lora Mae (Moore) Sinclair. He married Donna Kay Archer on January 21, 1977, in Mesquite, Texas.
He served in the United States Army National Guard, and he worked for General Motors as an auto parts representative. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas. Dean was a 1955 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and a member of the 1954 Dr. Pepper Championship Basketball Team, alongside his great friend, Don Meredith. He attended the University of Texas at Houston on a full basketball scholarship. Dean enjoyed raising cows and trading horses. His true love was spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was the best husband, father, Big Daddy, uncle, cousin, and friend. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Lora Sinclair; 3 brothers, 2 sisters; 1 grandson, Corbin McNutt and 1 great granddaughter, Piper McNutt.
Those left to forever cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Donna Sinclair; daughters, Angela Sanders, Apryl and Keith McElroy, Deena McNutt, Leslie Harris; son, Gregory Sinclair. 11 grandchildren, Rance Cupp, Bowdrie Cupp, Amanda and Justin Burkett, Kaylee and Mark Lester, Kenley McElroy, Kameryn McElroy, Kylan McElroy, Raydean Voight, Elizabeth Sinclair, McKenna Wiler, Colston Taylor, and 13 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
