A funeral service for Cleveland McQueen will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor W. Scott Pannell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Park.
Cleveland (Cleve) Odell McQueen was born June 18th, 1934, in Hillsboro Texas to T.L. McQueen and Ella Mary Cotton McQueen. He attended Sulphur Springs schools. He was a member of Morning Chapel Baptist Church at an early and later united with Mitchell Chapel COGIC in Sulphur Springs and then Mount Calvary COGIC in Quitman Texas. He was employed by Maddox Motor Company as a mechanic and opened McQueen’s Auto Repair and afterwards worked for Sulphur Springs Asphalt as Foreman until his accident in 1987. Cleve enjoyed keeping up his yard, taking care of family vehicles and always talked about how he built the first HEMI and making cars run faster. He married Margie Mitchell McQueen on January 28th, 1955. She preceded him death on February 14th, 2019.
He is also preceded by his parents T.L. & Ella Mary, siblings Richardson McQueen, Opal McQueen Pogue, Floretta McQueen Askew, Barbary J. Pannell Thompson, Lawrence Pannell Jr. and grand-daughter TaKeisha Black.
Cleveland passed on February 16th, 2024, at his residence. He leaves to cherish his memory: Son Kenneth (Stephanie) & Tabatha. Three adopted daughters, Linda McQueen of Tyler Texas. Marilyn TaylorWalker (Matthew) of Garland Texas, and Debra Hawkins (Kenneth) of Little Elm Texas. Grand-daughters T’Kaya McQueen of Tyler (Austin), Kierra McKinnes of San Antonio. God-daughter Jaslyn Heggins of Dallas, Texas. Siblings Winfield Scott Pannell, Billye Faye Pannell, Flora Pannell Clayton, Brenda K. Pannell Lewis. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
