Funeral Service for Sue Norris West age, 85 will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at West
Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Tiemeyer officiating. Her grandsons will be serving as
pallbearers. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service and Interment will follow the service
at Shooks Chapel Cemetery.
Sue was born on March 29, 1939 to Homer and Tylene Norris in Bangs, Tx. She married her dear
husband, John West on December 15, 1973 in Kermit, Tx. A woman of great faith, hope, and love, she
was a pillar of strength for her children and grandchildren and her brothers and sisters in Christ. Her
prayers and acts of service and love touched the lives of so many and gave her her greatest sense of
purpose. She treasure the Scriptures. Sue was an excellent cook and truly took pleasure in cooking for
everyone. She enjoyed china painting, sewing, and decorating, and made every place she touched more
beautiful. Sue adored spending time with her family especially at holiday gatherings and was known as
“MiMi” and “Mama Sue” by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, John West; sons, Ken Durham and wife, Sheri and Brooks West
and wife, Celia; daughters, Lori Durham Chastain and Karen Davis; stepson John Samuel West and wife,
Ruth; sister, Jo Sledge; grandchildren, Dustin Durham, Brady Davis, Marissa Clark, BJ Davis, Hollie
Chastain, Candice Beal, Cade Chastain, Brooks Alonzo West-Hernandez, Renzo Emiliano West-
Hernandez, Miranda Ximena West-Hernandez, Isaac Ronaldo West-Hernandez and Estefania Julieta
West-Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Logan, Hannah, Coleson, Lillian, Carter, Lillie, Lainee, Ryder,
Emily, Tyler, Edison, Caygen, Gwen and Esther; and one great-great-grandchild, Cainen.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Avis Nolan and Betty Norris.
