No Soup For Paris

July 30, 2024 – The iconic Campbell Soup company in Paris, TX we soon cease to produce that comfort food we know and love… canned soup.

Closure of the Paris facility has been on the table for months now. Currently the company decided to transfer soup production to other facilities around the country and transform the Paris plant to focus on sauce (Prego) and salsa (Pace) production.

Approximately half of the nearly 700 soup related jobs will be eliminated in the next few years.

The Paris facility had been expanded in 1998 to produce the Prego and Pace products alongside the soup products it had been making since it opened in 1964. The plant began processing V8 juice products in 2009 as well.

The Paris EDC lists Campbell’s as the second largest employer in Lamar County behind the Paris Regional Health system.
