August 27, 2024 – The HighSchoolBBQLeague is urging high school and middle school students to form BBQ Teams to compete against other student teams in organized competitions across the state. The NHSBBQA is the official event and competition sanctioning body for High School BBQ teams across the nation. The group intends to inspire and prepare students for life by creating a nation-wide competitive High School BBQ (HSBBQ) league to teach, preserve, and promote the American tradition of barbecue and live fire cooking as a sport designed around project based learning while using it to develop leadership, career, and life skills for today’s youth in the classroom, we call it FOOD SPORT! Their slogan is: Where Dreams Ignite, and they encourage the students to tell their supporters to Come Eat Our Homework.
The National High School BBQ Association Regional is happening October 19 in Columbus, TX. If your school doesn’t have a BBQ team yet, there is still time to register.
