Sharon Ann Darst, aged 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Brashear, Texas, on June 7th, 2024. Born on August 24, 1950, in Dallas, she was the daughter of Violet Petty Coppedge and Carl Derwin Coppedge, both of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
As Sharon attended Bryan Adams High School her heart was captured by Thomas Ray Darst, her lifelong partner. They courted for several years and wed in Dallas, Texas on November 26, 1969 and together nurtured a loving family. Their journey saw them raise three children: a daughter, Sherry Lucretia Darst, and two sons, Kelly Christopher Darst and John Thomas Darst. As Tom and Sharon raised their family, they adventured all across the state of Texas and built friendships everywhere they planted roots.
Sharon’s life was a tapestry of love and service. As a devoted homemaker and mother, she enjoyed many career adventures through the years. She also shared her passion for sewing with the world. Her volunteer work at Fannindel High School in Ladonia, Texas, brought warmth to countless children through homemade blankets donated to hospitals like Scottish Rite in Dallas.
Following Tom’s retirement, Tom and Sharon escaped the bustling city of Dallas, Texas and settled in Brashear, Texas where they enjoyed the peaceful country life. From Brashear, Sharon enjoyed visiting with friends and frequent trips around Northeast Texas to love on and support her growing extended family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Thomas Ray Darst of Brashear, Texas. She is also survived by her three children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Sharon’s daughter Sherry Lucretia Darst lives in Dallas, Texas and has four children: William, Wayne, Brian and Faith. Sharon’s son Kelly Christopher Darst lives in Bloomburg, Texas with his wife Kristin and have five children: Mikaella, Kody, Kelli, Tuck, and Michael. Sharon’s son John Thomas Darst lives in Paris, Texas with his wife Stephanie and have two children: Nathan and Emily.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11th at Tapp Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00 AM at the same location. Sharon will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Terrell, Texas at the feet of Thomas’ parents at a date to be determined.
