Look Up Tonight; See Halley’s Comet Dust Light Up The Sky
October 22, 2024 – The Orionids, which began in late September, are considered the most beautiful of the annual meteor showers. The activity typically peaks on October 20 and 21 but will be visible until November 22. The dusty source of the Orionids come from Halley’s Comet.
The best viewing time tonight will be from midnight until dawn. Because the moon will be close to the radiant, moonlight will decrease the number of meteors visible.
The meteor show will continue for several weeks, and interference from the waning moon will decrease towards the end of October.
