Funeral Service for Helen Jo Romans, age 90, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Eason officiating. Scott Courson, Butch Smith, Jason Romans, Marty Fite, Camyn Courson and Justin Grubbs will be serving as pallbearers. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Park. Helen passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Helen was born on February 17, 1934, in Arizona to John and Elde Humphries. She married the love of her life, George “G.R.” Romans on February 27, 1954, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, he preceded her in death on May 5, 2020. Helen was a seamstress for many years who loved making and mending items for the family and everyone else that asked. She absolutely loved collecting things, and was so proud of her tea pot and cookie jar collection. Helen spent most of her adult life as mother, a loving wife and homemaker, all while helping to operate the family Dairy. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family especially all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lynn “Bo” Romans; son-in-law, Johnny Mack Courson; sister, Clara Smith; grandchildren, Scott Courson and his wife, Susan, Jason Romans and his wife, Tamany and Chelsey Romans; great-grandchildren, Justin, Avery, Camyn, Emma, Hurley as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Clark Humphries and Elde Earhart Humphries, her loving husband, George “G.R.” Romans, her son, Tony Ray “Poncho” Romans, daughter, Rose Ann Courson and one brother, Billy Humphries.
