Jose Angel Gonzalez August 11, 1935 –December 14, 2024 Jose Angel Gonzalez, born on August 11, 1935, in Alice, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 14, 2024.
Joe lived a life full of love and devotion, both to his family and his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hancock from 1952 to 1956. After his service, Joe graduated from Texas A&I University. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and a honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus.
On June 1, 1957, Joe married the love of his life, Irma Salas. Their marriage of 67 years was a testament to unwavering love and partnership. Together, they raised three daughters: Judith Dolan (Tom), Victoria Gonzalez (Steve Welker), and Teresa McBee (Keith). Joe was a beloved grandfather to six grandchildren; Sam Dolan (Jessie), Jake Dolan (Lizz), Cara Welker, Alissa Welker (Noah Bizer), Dustin McBee, and Blake McBee (Gracey) and great-grandfather to three.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio and Angela Gonzalez, his brother, Fidencio E. Gonzalez, and his sister, Dora Lichtenberger.
Joe’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sulphur Spring’s Fresenius Dialysis Center staff for the compassionate care provided to him over the past five years. Joe’s life will be remembered for his dedication to family and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral Mass will be at St James Catholic Church Wed Dec 18th at 11:00am with Father Victor Hernandez officiating. Rosary to be held at 10:00am prior to funeral Mass at St James Church. No formal visitation will be held. Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Dolan, Jake Dolan, Dustin McBee and Blake McBee.
