Funeral service for Carolyn Ann Hiatt Friday, age 78, of Mt. Vernon, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Lyle & Monica Swavel officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Richard Herrick, Michael Bohler, Hayden Scott Sommers, Cooter Bohler, Cutter Bohler, and Zach Buck serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Tom Bagwell, and Johnny Hlavinka. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. Friday passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Carolyn Ann Hiatt Friday was born on October 27, 1946 in Robstown, Texas to Woodrow and Viola (Riedesel) Teschendorf. She married Ralph Duane Hiatt in Robstown, Texas in 1964. After his passing in 2006, she married Larry C. Friday, Sr. in Sulphur Springs, Texas in 2008. Carolyn obtained a bachelor’s degree in health administration RHIT and ran the Medical Records Department at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and Midland Memorial Hospitals. Carolyn was a member of the Voice of the Believers Church in Mt. Vernon, Texas. She had a deep affection for all of her animals/pets. Her heart belonged to her furry companions. Carolyn was an avid crafter and enjoyed creating items to display and give to others. She enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering her time for many causes over the years. Carolyn was a devoted Foster parent for many years and an advocate for children.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Gail Dawn Hiatt Behan of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandson, Ralph David Behan of Mt. Vernon, Texas; sister, Sharon Hlavinka of Kenedy, Texas; special niece/daughter, Carol Lynnae Evans of Gladewater, Texas; great friends, Michael Bohler, Hayden (Scott) Sommers, and their families; and all the Walleye Park friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Viola Teschendorf; husbands, Ralph Hiatt and Larry Friday, Sr.; four brothers; one sister; and special friend and son-in-law, David E. Behan.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider a donation to the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
The family would like to thank Choice Hospice, Carriage House Manor, the rehabilitation doctors and nurses for the care provided to Carolyn. A special thank you to Dr. Bridgette Coker and Dr. Darren Arnecke for their special attention and care over the past few months.
