Texas Ranger Baseball Prepares for 2025 Season
January 21, 2025 – As the Texas Rangers prepare for the 2025 MLB season, they aim to rebound from a challenging 2024 campaign. The season is set to commence on March 27, 2025, with a home opener against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field.
In the offseason, the Rangers made strategic moves to bolster their roster. Notably, they re-signed right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to a three-year, $75 million contract. Eovaldi, 34, had a solid 2024 season with a 3.80 ERA over 29 starts, reinforcing the starting rotation alongside Jacob deGrom, Jon Gray, and Tyler Mahle.
Additionally, the Rangers acquired infielder Jake Burger from the Miami Marlins, trading prospects Max Acosta, Echedry Vargas, and Brayan Mendoza. Burger, who hit 29 home runs in his first full season with Miami, adds significant power to the lineup and is under contract for four more seasons.
Outfielder Wyatt Langford is poised for a breakout season. After a slow start in his rookie year, Langford improved markedly from June onward, finishing with a .263/.337/.458 slash line and 15 home runs over the final 100 games. His development is expected to continue, providing a boost to the Rangers’ offense.
The Rangers’ 2025 schedule includes notable home series against the Los Angeles Angels and the 2024 World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers from April 15-20. They will also host the Houston Astros on May 16-18 and September 5-7 in the “Catch the Silver Boot Series,” presented by Texas Lottery.
With these roster enhancements and a balanced schedule, the Texas Rangers are positioned to improve their performance and contend in the competitive American League West division in 2025.
