A Message of Inspiration From the Author of Living Loved, February 2, 2025
Hey friends, do you ever feel like you’ve completely messed up and have destroyed Gods plan for your life? Let me speak to that spot. Let me remind you that God chose you in Christ to be holy and made right long before he even created the world! Let’s just talk about David the Shepherd Boy. Friends, it just hit me. It hit me that as Samuel was anointing David, the young Shepherd Boy, with oil to be King one day, that God selected David. He says that he looks at the heart of men, not the outward appearances. It didn’t hit me that God selected him but that in that moment when God selected him, He knew. The Father knew that many years later David would forsake going to war, he would commit adultery and impregnate Bathsheba. He knew that David would then have her husband killed and take her as his own wife. The Father already knew the many sins David would commit. He knew and yet……….
He still chose him. And in Matthew chapter 1 where it’s giving the lineage of Jesus, it says in verse 6 Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah). Friends, we think our sin disqualifies us. David was in the lineage of Jesus. David and Bathsheba. The very woman he committed adultery with and killed her husband. They are in the lineage of our Savior. But God said David was a man after His heart. Because David had a heart of repentance. He was a man humble
Before the Lord. What a God we serve!! He sees your hearts. He’s not counting the sins against you once you’re in Christ. It’s not a pass to sin, it’s a gift of forgiveness for when we do sin. But He knows our hearts. He knows our motives. And when we are truly His, our hearts grieve when we sin against Him and we, like David should have a heart of repentance.
And friends, He not only knows all the sins you have committed, He knows all the sin that lies before you and yet HE CHOOSES YOU!!
He CHOSE ME, even though He knew how messed up I would be. And that is such a reassuring promise. Oh we are so loved!! So incredibly, wholly and completely and without condition, loved!!
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
