She loved her children fiercely and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They could do no wrong in her eyes. She was known as “Grandmomma” to all, and even allowed little Brixton to call her “Grandma” and never said a word otherwise.

She retired from Northeast Texas Community College where she taught nursing for over 18 years. Prior to that she had worked at Titus Regional Medical Center as Director of the Emergency Room for many years. She was known as Nancy Nurse to many coworkers, physicians, family, and friends.

Nancy loved to read, and you dare not try to carry on a conversation while she was in the middle of a good book. She read her Bible and devotional every day. She was a proud supporter of the Mount Vernon High School Athletics. Up until Jerry became ill, they went to many volleyball and basketball games. Oftentimes, they were some of the first fans in the bleachers.

She was a 1963 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She attended most of the reunions and still kept in touch with many of her classmates.

She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hagansport where she played the piano and organ.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Chambers Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to their mother during this difficult time.
