Funeral Services for Juanita Johnson, age 74 of Sulphur Springs, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at MLK Church of Christ with Valandrous Bell and Delonte Jackson officiating. Interment followed at Mel Haven Cemetery with Chris Finney, Andre Johnson, Adryan Johnson, Kadarin Wright, Marquis Wright, Wayne Williams, Richard Givens and Sheldon Hamilton, Sr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Aaryn Evans, Amarian Walker, Tyrik Sims-Crow, Sheldon Hamilton, Jr., Kedrian Sims and Dedrick Rose-Luke, Jr. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Johnson passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
She was born on November 24, 1940, the daughter of Herman and Rosa Lee (Lindley) Childs in Sulphur Springs, TX. She married Robert George Johnson. She was a seamstress and a member of the MLK Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Robbie Johnson and Schella Johnson, both of Sulphur Springs; sons, Larry Childs, Arthur Spain, Gary Chism, and Robert Johnson, Jr., all of Sulphur Springs; brothers, Roy Childs of Como, Manuel Childs and Robert Childs, of Sulphur Springs and Hal Childs of Waco; sisters, Frona Williams of Sulphur Springs and Jessie Thomas of Cooper; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and special friends, Bobbie Brown, Edwin Thomas, Freddie Porter and Walter Roland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur Childs, George W. Childs, Charles Childs, Edgar Childs and Herman Childs and sisters, Eddis Faye Childs, Margaret Gleen.
