Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on county road 3310 in Hopkins County at 8:35 pm on Friday. Before arriving on the scene, dispatch advised that Michael Anthony Baker, 30, had retrieved a knife from the residence and made his way outside the home. The arresting officer made contact with Baker while he was sitting in a vehicle near the residence. Baker was highly intoxicated and had visible injuries on his hands. The victim informed the deputies that Baker began to yell threats while holding a knife. Deputies then discovered two (2) knifes to be in Baker’s possession.
Baker was too inebriated for a magistrate’s hearing Saturday morning. Sunday morning his bond was set at $50,000 by Justice of the Peace Brad Cummings. Baker is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a first degree felony.
