County Commissioners Hear Library Update
Thirty-one percent of Hopkins County non-city residents hold a library card according to a report made by Hope Cain, Director of the Sulphur Springs Library. Cain thanked Hopkins County Commissioners Court for their contributions to enable the public library to service residents of Hopkins County. Mrs. Cain addressed the commissioners Monday morning during their regular session. She reports 31.7% of county residents with library cards is 14% of all those who hold cards issued by the local library.
She reported to the court that library staff is creating a more pleasurable experience for those browsing through the books and displays at the local library on North Davis Street. The staff is continuing to develop a current, relevant reading collection for patrons. The library will be adding two additional vision impaired viewing screens for public use. Currently, one vision impaired viewing screen is available.
Future goals for the local library include an electronic sign on the grounds in front of the library, seating for adults in the children’s area, and digital signage around the library.
The Children’s Summer Reading Program is set to begin June 8th, 2017
