Although today’s path of the total eclipse will not cross Texas, persons residing in NE Texas can observe a partial eclipse today between 1 pm and 3 pm. For example, viewers in Texarkana can observe an 82% partial eclipse. Please use appropriate eye protection if you plan to watch the eclipse.In 2024, a total solar eclipse will affect Northeast Texas. The last time the phenomenon occurred above this part of the United States was July 28, 1878.
As a community project, members of the Hopkins County STEM 4H Club will have viewing masks available for persons who wish to view the eclipse safely. They will be located on Celebration Plaza in Sulphur Springs between 11 am and 3 pm today.
