July 23, 2018 – When the driver of a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation at North Davis and Connally Streets refused consent to search, a K9 was called to the scene. Leah Nicole Walker, 35, of Sulphur Springs, the driver of the vehicle, was nervous during the stop and the officer asked for consent to search the vehicle. Tanya Marie Gilbert, 32, of Saltillo, was a passenger in the vehicle.
The K9 alerted on the vehicle and the officer conducted a search that located a crystal like substance believed to be Methamphetamine in the vehicle. On the passenger’s person, the officer found methamphetamine.
Walker is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 4-grams but less than 200-grams in a Drug Free Zone, a Felony 2. She is being held in Hopkins County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
Gilbert is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 4-grams but less than 200-grams in a Drug Free Zone, a Felony 2, and with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1-gram in a Drug Free Zone, a Felony 3. Gilbert is being held in Hopkins County Jail on a total of $45,000 in bonds.
