Miller Grove and Saltillo cross country runners continue to make their presence felt at the State Cross Country Meet.
The Miller Grove Hornets captured the state championship for Class 1A Boys and the Lady Hornets were second. For Miller Grove, freshman Isaiah Billingsley finished 9th. Kobe Robertson was right behind him in 10th place. Lance Verner Davis was 13th, Grant Earp was 17th, Matthew Brignon was 20th, Tanner Hensley was 37th and Lexton Sly was 84th. For the Lady Hornets, Jorja Bessonett was 7th, Cassidy Seaney was 9th, Jolee Fox was 13th, Lauren Bullard was 38th, Alexa Pelerose was 72nd, Lainy Burnett was 101st and Harli Watson was 125th.
The Saltillo Lions finished third in state and the Lady Lions were 13th. For the Lions, Garrett Tarver was 3rd, Jayden Holloway was 23rd, Dillon Beadle was 32nd, Matthew Gurley was 59th, Brancen Cupp was 88th, Edi Olayo was 91st and Ben Moore was 126th. For the Lady Lions, Sienna Collins was 14th, Raegan Speir was 59th, Kristina Wade was 86th, Ofelia Cabrera was 127th, Jocelyn Ochoa was 134th, Chandler Bain was 145th and Danielle Ross was 146th.
Other area school finishers in Class 1A were Brennon Newell of Sulphur Bluff in 73rd place, Maddie Hooker of Yantis in 5th place and Bailey Neal of Sulphur Bluff in 34th place.
In Class 2A Boys, Mario Perez of North Hopkins finished in 46th place.
