Cross Country: Miller Grove Hornets State Champs; Other County Schools Place

Miller Grove and Saltillo cross country runners continue to make their presence felt at the State Cross Country Meet.

The Miller Grove Hornets captured the state championship for Class 1A Boys and the Lady Hornets were second. For Miller Grove, freshman Isaiah Billingsley finished 9^th. Kobe Robertson was right behind him in 10^th place. Lance Verner Davis was 13^th, Grant Earp was 17^th, Matthew Brignon was 20^th, Tanner Hensley was 37^th and Lexton Sly was 84^th. For the Lady Hornets, Jorja Bessonett was 7^th, Cassidy Seaney was 9^th, Jolee Fox was 13^th, Lauren Bullard was 38^th, Alexa Pelerose was 72^nd, Lainy Burnett was 101^st and Harli Watson was 125^th.

The Saltillo Lions finished third in state and the Lady Lions were 13^th. For the Lions, Garrett Tarver was 3^rd, Jayden Holloway was 23^rd, Dillon Beadle was 32^nd, Matthew Gurley was 59^th, Brancen Cupp was 88^th, Edi Olayo was 91^st and Ben Moore was 126^th. For the Lady Lions, Sienna Collins was 14^th, Raegan Speir was 59^th, Kristina Wade was 86^th, Ofelia Cabrera was 127^th, Jocelyn Ochoa was 134^th, Chandler Bain was 145^th and Danielle Ross was 146^th.

Other area school finishers in Class 1A were Brennon Newell of Sulphur Bluff in 73^rd place, Maddie Hooker of Yantis in 5^th place and Bailey Neal of Sulphur Bluff in 34^th place.

In Class 2A Boys, Mario Perez of North Hopkins finished in 46^th place.
