Wood County Sheriff’s Report November 7-12, 2018
November 7th
Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2930 near Alba; at approximately 3:12 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to Goode St. in Quitman, at approximately 4:27 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
At 4:30 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 4554 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:11 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:15 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 5:31 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 7:42 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the owner of the building and determined it was an accident.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:39 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on CR 2460 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 1:48 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2195 near Quitman, at approximately 3:40 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
At 4:20 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 1647 near Winnsboro.
At 5:43 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2966 near Quitman.
Deputies were dispatched to Suma near Quitman, at approximately 9:43 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies located the damage, but were unable to locate the vehicle that caused the damage.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2225 near Quitman; at approximately 10:46 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
November 8th
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 3:11 a.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:50 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. Curtis Govan, II, 22, of Dallas, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2620 near Mineola, at approximately 5:50 a.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 10:14 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 1460 near Quitman, at approximately 10:16 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:12 p.m., in reference to theft that occurred on HWY 80 near Hawkins. This case is active.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:35 p.m., in reference to credit/debit card abuse that occurred on CR 2700 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:55 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances that occurred on CR 3164 near Quitman. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Alba, at approximately 2:49 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2279 near Mineola, at approximately 3:21 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the scene.
At 5:33 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4200 near Winnsboro.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3987 near Winnsboro; at approximately 7:06 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Deputies were responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 17 near Alba; at approximately 7:47 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2700 near Mineola, at approximately 8:34 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies located the actor and issue a citation.
At 8:45 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2869 near Winnsboro.
November 9th
At 2:56 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.
At 6:56 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2810 near Mineola, at approximately 6:59 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
At 7:04 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2942 near Alba.
At 7:05 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2260 near Mineola; at approximately 7:25 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
At 9:25 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:11 a.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on FM 852 near Winnsboro. This case is active.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2360 near Mineola, at approximately 1:52 p.m., in reference to burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a chainsaw from the reporting party’s building. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2311 near Mineola, at approximately 2:52 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:17 p.m., in reference to theft that occurred on CR 2261 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:07 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on CR 2298 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to PR 6882 near Mineola; at approximately 7:31 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to Lake Quitman beach area, at approximately 7:40 p.m., in reference to a possible alcohol violation. Deputies located the individuals and determined there was no alcohol and cleared the area.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Pacific St. in Mineola; at approximately 8:03 p.m. Summer Barnhart, 22, of Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Pacific St. in Mineola; at approximately 8:53 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Broad St. in Mineola; at approximately 9:14 p.m. Michael McFall, 30, of Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2200 near Mineola; at approximately 11:25 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2131 near Quitman; at approximately 11:46 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
November 10th
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2298 near Mineola; at approximately 12:47 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to PR 6882 near Mineola; at approximately 1:09 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Patten St. in Mineola; at approximately 1:23 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
At 1:56 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3118 near Quitman; at approximately 1:58 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3144 near Quitman; at approximately 2:00 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
At 7:07 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 37 near Mineola.
At 7:36 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 11 near Winnsboro.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 3425 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:14 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 2:13 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies located the activity and they gun was being fired in a safe direction.
At 2:56 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Mineola, at approximately 2:57 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner of the building and determined it was an accident.
At 6:39 p.m., cows were reported out on Loop 564 near Mineola.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 7:53 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Holiday Village Dr. near Quitman; at approximately 8:44 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 1799 near Mineola; at approximately 9:38 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 3978 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:07 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3160 near Quitman; at approximately 11:49 p.m. Fredrick Owens, 46, of Winnsboro, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
November 11th
Deputies were dispatched to CR 4990 near Quitman, at approximately 12:44 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 17 near Alba; at approximately 2:02 a.m. Korey Bigbee, 26, of McKinney, was arrested for Resist Arrest, Search or Transport, Failure to Identify, and Public Intoxication.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Holly Trail near Hawkins; at approximately 5:20 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
Deputies were dispatched to Holley St. in Alba, at approximately 10:56 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Dennis Dawson, 52, of Alba, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 3900 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:37 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Jason Reeves, 46, of Hawkins, was arrested for Assault.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:21 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner of the building and determined it was an accident.
At 5:01 p.m., cows were reported out on Loop 564 near Mineola.
At 6:03 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2966 near Yantis.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4200 near Winnsboro; at approximately 6:15 p.m.
At 6:47 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Quitman.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2225 near Quitman; at approximately 6:52 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 7:11 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and this case has been forwarded to investigators.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 4988 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:08 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Shanna Carpenter, 39, of Cumby, was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2205 near Mineola, at approximately 8:52 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 37 near Quitman; at approximately 9:48 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
November 12th
Deputies were dispatched to Lone Oak Dr. in Hawkins, at approximately 12:42 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 6:07 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and provided a courtesy transport.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2660 near Mineola, at approximately 7:38 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Ross Sudderth, 35, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault.
At 12:19 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2720 near Mineola, at approximately 1:16 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the day.
At 1:24 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Quitman.
Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:34 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, broke into the residence and damaged the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
At 3:18 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4420 near Winnsboro.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 3810 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:01 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies were dispatched to Main St. in Yantis, at approximately 6:56 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 3545 near Hawkins; at approximately 8:33 p.m. Dalton Shumaker, 22, of Hawkins, was arrested for Prohibited Weapon Knuckles.
Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Church St. in Mineola; at approximately 11:51 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
Between the dates of November 7 and November 12, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Emergency Medical Services, Police Departments, Rains County and Department of Public Safety.
Between the dates of November 7 and November 12, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained 2 arrest warrants and arrested the individual and filed 6 cases with the District Attorney.
Total Jail Count –116 inmates – 92 males and 24 females.
