Billie Anne Martinez

Billie Anne Martinez, 79, of Commerce passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Greenville. She was a nurse at Briarcliff Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.

Billie was born in Riverside, California, on August 10, 1935, to Dorothy Lorraine Williams and William Johnathan Archeleta.  She attended Riverside Polytechnical High School and Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego, California.  Billie moved to Commerce in 1976 where she married Lupe Martinez on August 12, 1977.

Billie was family oriented and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their respective sports, Brownies, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  She also liked working crossword and Sudoku puzzles.  She also loved traveling to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Of all of her accomplishments, Billie was most proud of being a professional nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kim Leatherwood; her brother, Lamar Archeleta; her sister, Jeanie Reavy; and, her grandsons: K. C. Leatherwood and Chandler Morris.

Survivors include her husband, Lupe Martinez of Commerce; her three sons:  Kelly Ray Leatherwood (Kathy) of Terrell, Kevin Clay Leatherwood of Cooper, and Joey David Adams (Julie) of Jacksonville, Arkansas; her two daughters:  Kelsie Kaye Council (Jim) of Denton and Kerri Jaye Bailey (Steve) of Tipp City, Ohio; her brother, Gerald Archeleta of Carson, Nevada; her sister, Judy Salazar (Richard) of Riverside, California; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, from 12:00 Noon until service time at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Bryan officiating.

Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.

Pallbearers will be Jason Lenagher, Kody Leatherwood, Kasey Leatherwood, Kolton Leatherwood, Paul Martinez and Ralph Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Roberts and William Beene.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has suggested that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
