Tom Sellers Named Texas Tech Alumni Association President
Tom Sellers was recently named President of the National Board of the Texas Tech Alumni Association. Sellers said he was honored and humbled. Sellers was elected to the 30-member board six years ago. AARP’s free Tax Aide income tax return preparation program gets underway Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs. For the 24th year, the Morning Chapel Baptist Church and the Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference will present Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior Awards during a ceremony Monday night at 7 p.m. at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ at 402 South Jackson in Sulphur Springs will have its’ annual Rescue The Perishing food distribution beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Food baskets for those in need will be available until all of them are gone. Church pastor the Reverend Nelson Gatlin calls the effort a hand up and not a hand out.
