At a regular meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Sulphur Springs City Council is scheduled for possible discussion and action on a proposed agreement leasing the city Public Library meeting room to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society and establishing revenue sharing for the proceeds from the sale of the Genealogical Society property located in the 200 block of Main Street.

Due to renovation work at Old City Hall, the city of Sulphur Springs Business Office will close at noon Wednesday and will reopen on Tuesday, December 2 at a temporary location in a doublewide located in a parking lot behind Old City Hall. At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Sulphur Springs City Council, the council approved an ordinance on first reading for issuance and sale of $5-million of certificates of obligation for more street work, equipment and renovation work for old City Hall. The council also passed several ordinances on second and final reading to help Saputo Dairy Foods receive financial incentives from the state for a plant expansion.
