A groundbreaking ceremony planned at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning, July 1, will signal the start of construction of a new EMS station and Hopkins County Hospital District headquarters. Planning for the new station has been in the planning stages for about a year and a half. A local nurse is partnering with CANHelp to host a community toiletry drive. The driver is as part of her graduate degree program, and items collected will help support schools in Hopkins County. Donations of basic hygiene items including new toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, combs, brushes, deodorant, lotion and sanitary napkins will be accepted June 28-July 11.
