Yantis ISD Board Attracts Five Seeking Full Term Seats; Three Seek to Fill Unexpired Term

At the end of the filing dead line in Yantis, five have filed for the full terms available on the Yantis School Board and three have filed for the unexpired term. Filing for full terms are Shannon Hall, Mike Allen, Jennifer McKeever, Melissa Stephens, and Kay Glenn. Filing for the unexpired term are Joey Bush, Tyra Gilbreath Kenemore, and April Johnson.

Yantis ISD Voters Reject Tax Increase

A proposed tax increase was rejected by Yantis ISD voters Saturday. Unofficial results show 91 votes opposed and only 63 votes for the measure. Monday evening at 6, the Yantis School Board will meet in the school cafeteria to discuss the 2016-17 proposed budget and to adopt the budget along with budget amendments. In Executive Session, they will discuss duties, responsibilities, and assignments of personnel.

Yantis ISD voters returned incumbents Joni Moreland and Mike Kenny to their seats on the board. Moreland received 99 votes, Kenney 76, and April Johnson 70.
